COSMETOLOGY PROGRAM
Our objective is to train and prepare students with the basics necessary for them to start working in the beauty industry by completing 1500 hours required by the state of Illinois. Our students must have the ability to function in the following areas: Haircuts, Hairstyles, Color, Permanent, Chemical Relaxers, Manicures, Pedicures, different techniques in applications of Acrylic Nails and Gel, Facial Waxing and Makeup.
Curriculum
The following is a breakdown of hours of theoretical and practical instruction necessary for completing the course, as prescribed by Illinois Department of Professional Regulations. Please note that the actual sequence of instruction may vary.
BASIC TRAINING/ THEORY - 150 HRS
The class will cover the general theory and practical application that will be provided in the materials of: implements and their use, shampoo, understanding of chemicals and their use, types of hair, health, hygiene, diseases and skin conditions, anatomy and physiology , electricity, ethics, nail technology and skin care.
APPLICATION OF CHEMICALS & TREATMENT TO HAIR - 500 HRS
The class will be combined with instructions and practice in the areas of: chemical precautions, perms, color, and discoloration, hair relaxation, hair and scalp treatments, shampooing, neutralization and rinsing.
HAIRCUTS & HAIRSTYLES - 475 HRS
The class will cover hairstyles with instruction and practice in the areas of cutting, thinning, modeling, blunting, applying electrical and mechanical equipment, rollers, braids and curls with curling iron and curls with thermal iron.
SANITATION & MANAGE A BUSINESS - 200 HRS
Instructions in the class will cover the areas of labor laws, workers' compensation, customer relationship, promotion and merchandise, first aid, the laws of the right to know. State and local laws and regulations, professional ethics in the business, health, electrical implements, personal care and hygiene.

Facials, waxing and makeup.

NAIL TECHNOLOGY - 55 HRS
Manicures, pedicures, acrylic nails and gel
ELECTIVES - 35 HRS
Knowledge of product and practice in community services.
