NAIL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

Our objective is to train and prepare students with the basics necessary for them to start working as a Nail Technician in the beauty industry by completing 350 hours required by the state of Illinois. Our students must have the ability to function in the following areas: Manicures, Pedicures, different techniques in applications of Acrylic Nail, Gel Nail, PolyGel & Hard Gel. As they advance in the course they will use their creativity to create encapsulated nails, 3D design, stamps, freehand designs and all new techniques being used. 

Curriculum 

The following is a breakdown of hours of theoretical and practical instruction necessary for completing the course, as prescribed by Illinois Department of Professional Regulations.     Please note that the actual sequence of instruction may vary.

THEORY - 50 HRS
General theory introducing the history of nail care. The emphasis on personal hygiene and public health, as well as the sterilization and disinfection of materials and implements. Have an understanding of the regulations and chemicals and their use. An emphasis on professional ethics in daily life.

 

RELATED CONCEPTS - 15 HRS
Learn the skills in professional nail care. Instruction on the cells, metabolism and body system, and massage practice on the client.

 

PRACTICAL - 255 HRS 
Instruction in the practice of manicures and pedicures with massages. Product knowledge related to the nails. Application of tips with wax strip, encapsulated with acrylic and gel colors, still life, balines, sculptural, two-dimensional and third dimension.

 

BUSINESS PRACTICES - 30 HRS
Instruction on the rules in a nail salon business in accordance with state and local laws and regulations, professional ethics, sanitation, electrical implements, communication with the client. Participation in Community Service.
